Or platforms might successfully implement stronger verification that restores review trustworthiness. Blockchain, verified identity, or other technologies could rebuild review credibility.
The current trajectory isn’t sustainable. If reviews become worthless due to AI fraud, the entire review ecosystem collapses. Something has to change, either technical solutions, regulatory intervention, or replacement with alternative systems.
The Broader Trust Crisis
AI-generated review fraud is part of larger problem of synthetic content eroding online trust. News articles, social media posts, images, videos—all can be AI-generated at scale.
We’re entering period where you can’t assume anything you see online is real. This fundamentally changes internet information ecology.
